An interesting discussion...

Post by canzus »

took place during the All Ford Show in Hillsboro, Mark V was commenting on
putting a V8 into his Capri, but was worried that his bride would kill him, I
made the comment that I'd kill him, saving her the trouble. I said go
and look at my Capri, where is the centerline of the front axle compared to
the centerline of the engine. Also compare the same to Doug D's 2.0L. I
own both a '74 2.0L Capri, and a '73 302ci Capri, never mind the '76 2.8L
Capri in the works...

Ford seems to have a habit of centering the engine on the front axle centerline,
which is not good for weight distribution. The 1.6L Capris and Cortinas have
the center of the engine behind the front axle centerline, which improves
the tossability of the car...

Just as an asides, it's way more fun to drive a slow car to the edge of control
than drive a fast car beyond...
