I am working on making an inlet airbox for the TWIN cam Lotus engine and need to know the bore spacing, primarily the spacing between the two center cylinders.

Thanks,

Bryan

And you know I had to remove said air box assy to measure properly..

The bore spacing is exactly 4 inches between the two inside bores of the front and rear carbs..

The two inner most upper studs that the air box bolts to are 2.9 inches apart..

Than should give you a good start.. If you're working with fiberglass, you can always trim a bit if you are slightly off..

Have fun! Oh, if you don't want to fuss with all that, a friend of mine makes a nice repo air box for the Lotus Elan, two piece, but all glass. It doesn't have the throttle cable attachment built in, but that can be added.. It has the correct length, height and angle of the nose for the air ducting.

I think they are around $100.00, but don't quote me..

His name is Gerry, and he lives close to Tacoma Washington.

He makes all kinds of fiberglass parts for the Elan, so give him a shout if you need something..

Well this is actually an airbox i've designed. It was originally designed for a BMW 2002, but i'm going to take my CNC machined plugs and adjust the spacing so I can possibly produce airbox's for Lotus twin cam engines (or others if there is enough interest (the molds alone take me about 2 months to make).

I am close to finishing up my first article, am learning some things.
Check out my project post over at the BMW 2002 forums:
