Mk1 Cortina Wagon ( estate )

Post by RS.Escort »

So we bought a 66 estate out of CA, and waited half a year for the resto to complete.. The car was shipped last monday using a carrier company..

This is what we bought...

Nice eh? The carried rolled over into a ditch about 5 miles from my home. Now I have the joy of dealing with an insurance company to settle the car. It might be repairable, but not to them of course. I'll try to keep the salvage and fix it, but I'll obviously need a parts car..

If anyone knows of one, please let me know... Mark

Yea tell me about it.. What's it like to find doors and a rear gate over there? If I can find parts I might entertain fixing it... :(

That blows!!! The worse part is, now there is 1 less Mk.1 wagon here in North America! DOH!

Just your luck in that I know of one on the Island. Has rust, I was hoping it could be fixed and put on the road, but I suppose combine your car and it, and 1 is on the road.

I was hoping to busy this one and fix it up, but I think reality tells me to wait it out for a more solid car that doesn't require much rust repair.

BTW, this car looks to be solid as far as glass etc goes..

Channeling Monty Python, "It's just a scratch, that should polish out, no problem."

Seriously, what a complete downer. Looks like a tough re build without a shell. However, you know your abilities. Good luck.

Mark,

Sorry to see/hear that - & just 5 miles away!
Are they going to give you what you have into it?

Mark,

I'm so sorry to see your lovely estate like that. It's absolutely awful. I'm not sure what the spare body panel situation is like for Cortinas over here but you could try www.buysellcortina.co.uk and Express Panels who do a lot of repro stuff for old Fords. I think they have a website so just Google them. Hope you get it sorted out with the one you're on the track of.

Thanks, I knew about Express Panels, but they don't make a roof..

But look what I bought yesterday...

Now we have hope! This one is pretty bad from the towers down, and the mechanicals are shot, but the roof/pillars are great..

I will decide which one to save, and cannibalize the other one..

Mark, glad I could help pointing you to that car. At least one of those wagons should end up back on the road!
