Does anyone know of a source for replacement strut inserts and new lever action shocks for a '66 Anglia? I am looking for an OE style or slightly better performance type application.

Thanks

Ken,

Apple Hydraulics 800-882-7753 are specialists in rebuilding lever type shocks.
I've used Cortina MK1 strut inserts in the Anglia 105E struts. The strut shaft from the MK1 is a couple of inches shorter causing the front to sit a bit lower. You can prevent end topping by removing one coil from the spring and re-flanging. The Anglia looks better a little lower in the front anyways. Either with or without cutting the spring the MK1 inserts will work.
Dave Bean Eng. 209-754-5802 has the inserts.

Thanks for the info.
So the Cortina inserts worked ok with the Anglia top mounts then?

What did you do for the rear?

Thanks

Ken,

Yes, the MK1 inserts will fit the 105E top mounts because the top bearings and races are the same on both mounts.

The rear lever shocks are durable. What normally fails are the seals and will leak hydraulic fluid around the lever arm. There is a filler plug on top of the unit so you can add new fluid. If the units have more the 100K miles it would be best to have them serviced and at the same time check the shocks links for joint wear.
