Ford Part number Prefix

Post by Bob_S »

Hi All,
Could someone help me out with this part number prefix, D1X2? If this was/is a US part number it would be for a 1971 but what model? But I believe it is for a English Ford/European Ford. Any help would be appreciated.
Happy New Years everyone!

Bob,

That's an unusual #. X is used for special vehicle parts but that would be on the 4th digit.
Here's some info on Decoding Ford Cast #s : http://www.mustangtek.com/FordDecode.html

Hi Peteleo,
Thanks for the reply, I messed up and the prefix should have been D12X.
So it would have been a special part.
Thanks Again and Happy New Years!

I bought a performance camshaft from the local Ford dealer for my Cortina GT MkII about 35 years ago. As I recall the number was D12X6250. I still have the tube that the camshaft came in, so I can double check that # for you this weekend.
