Capri V6 - Switch from 4 speed to a 5 speed trans

Hi All,
Does anyone know what it would take to swap out a 4 speed for a 5 speed in a MK 1 Capri with a 2.6L V6? A friend would like to do this but doesn't know where to start and I told him I would ask the group.
Of course he would want to use parts available in the USA to keep the cost down.
