I've been thinking about doing a zetec swap on my Mk2 Cortina but don't know much about it. I want something a little more modern with some power along with it and this has been on my mind for a while.
I know it's been done plenty of times before and I have done some research. I've gotten as far as needing to get a new sump, clutch, flywheel, pilot bearing, crank sensor housing etc. I do plan on getting rid of the efi and putting bike carbs and a nodiz ecu to deal with the ignition.
As said above, I've looked at it to be about $2800CAD. I know that a water manifold is needed but I've seen cheaper options. Also an exhaust header is needed.
I've wondered about motor mounts. Will mk1/mk2 escort standard conversion mounts fit? As well as if a new water pump is needed (I know the Silvertop zetec needs a new one to spin the right way round. I don't know about the blacktop). New alternator needed as well?
If anyone has experience with this swap please let me know. I want to know if there's other options to doing things.
Thanks,
Daniel
