Temperature gauge

Post by 1970 cortina GT »

Converted my 66 MK1 Cortina GT from pos to neg earth. When I turn the ignition on the temperature gauge rises all the way to hot, any ideas why? Thanks.

Switching polarity won't effect operation. Did you replace either the temp sender or gauge ? or the temp sender doesn't match the gauge. Does the gauge still go towards hot with the wire disconnected to the temp sender ?

I think I’ve figured it out Pete, must’ve been grounded somehow on the back of the gauge, took it out and put it back in and now it’s good. I’ll trace the short and I should be good. Thanks again.
