A few things I've learned so far, Plus question on mix screw

So a few things I've leaned so far about my 101. I replaced the headlight switch with one I got from SmallFordSpares. The mounting threads were too short so I had to dremel the surface of the switch body to get enough threads to screw the bezel on, which is now holding on by a thread. Whatever works, it's a nice switch. I got a carburetor [thanks peteleo] and while rebuilding it found a crack half way around the venturi tube, in the same place as the carb I was replacing. A common problem I guess. So I didn't try to remove the screw, just sprayed through it. So running again but the mixture screw makes no change. Is it due to the crack? Any ideas?
