USB chargers?

Post by CortinaGT »

Has anyone added a USB charging receptacle to a classic car before? If so, how was the installation, how is it working and any recommendations?

Most Cortinas had a cigarette lighter in the dash so you could use that? If your Cortina is Positive ground you could do a simple swap to Negative earth and just plug in one of these devices. I put one in my old Mazda truck years ago and it still works fine, it has the added benefit of letting me see the battery voltage and temperature.  https://www.amazon.ca/Cigarette-Lighter ... r=8-3&th=1

I added a 12v socket onto the Escort, and it's great. I use it all the time with a plug in USB charger, to power up my GPS, and charge my phone.
Very handy indeed.
The cigarette lighter socket was removed many years asgo, so that's why I added a new socket.
