Hmmm.. What years of Consul? The Cortina's were called Consul's for the first two years.. 62 to 63.. but they are of course all the same up to 66..

Well I'm not sure if they are called the same thing in England, but I can't imagine why not.. It's a structural layout of the chassis showing the dimensions of various points in relation usually to the centerline of the car..

Usefull for pulling and restoring a damaged chassis or shell to straight again.. particularily useful if there are no other cars available to measure to compare, and if the car has been seriously messed up, like mine is..

I have all kinds of them for north american cars, but British cars are another matter..

Ohh so close... I guess the consul was produced side by side with the Cortina..

Nice looking car though.. Maybe I should get one!

Thanks for the diagrams anyway.. I appreciate the effort.

OMG! I was just talking to Doug last night and looking here I hadn't realized it's been 6 years since I started this estate repair.. Car is all one piece and all the metal work is done now so I will try to post some pictures.. We unfortunately had a few projects come up that took priority from the Cortina, but we are back on it now!

Hey Doug.. I just got back on the wagon and ran into an issue.. I flipped the car upside down to clean up some floor welds, and checked my datum.. Absolutely spot on top and bottom.. Quite happy about that.. Don't ever want to clip a car front end again, that's for sure..

The problem I have is that the prior owner of this car welded the engine cross member in place.. And it looks like it's back about 3/8 ths to a half of an inch on the drivers side.. It's pretty obvious looking down at it from the front of the car.. I figured I'd fix that when the car was flipped over ( like now) but..

I wonder if anybody can tell me if when they look down at the crossmember with their hood open if theirs looks back on the drivers side as well.. I don't remember seeing that on either of my other Cortina's but I never really looked..

Easy enough to remove and reposition the crossmember if needed, but it would be good to know if it's normal.. The bolts are all in place ( and welded also (?!?!?! ) in seemingly the correct locations..
