1951 Ford Prefect - $8800 (Kerrisdale)

Post by Bob_S » Mon Apr 20, 2020 4:21 pm

The car is in great condition and eligible for collector plates

The Ford Prefect is a line of British cars which was produced by Ford UK between 1938 and 1961 as a more upmarket version of the Ford Popular and Ford Anglia models. It was introduced in October 1938 and remained in production until 1941. Returning to the market in 1945, it was offered until 1961.

That's my old neighbourhood and that car is now in it's second year of being for sale, it is hard to imagine that it will sell anytime soon with this Covid-19 thing depressing the market. All the local car shows are canceled until further notice.

That's the one I had for a while and is a really good example, the owner has a few other delicacies, Saab Sonnet etc and is in no rush, I suspect he just wants what he paid for the car.

I had to move it on as I was kinda out of room, having to overlap the bumpers to get both cars in the garage.

Isn't that Fred's old Cortina that had a Fiat engine originally?

That's the one, then I tried all of the following drivetrains (put them in place etc) before settling on the S2000 as the weapon of choice
Zetec
Miata
K24DE
SHO (Gen1)
Pinto

Should never have sold it. :(

That's hindsight for you, I have a few vehicles too that I should have kept. I had this RHD Cortina years ago that I parted out in my back yard, Fred took a number of bits for his/your car. I can't remember most of the bits but the front grill was one of them for sure.
