Attention Euro-Ford spotters. Today a 18-wheeler left Olympia, WA with two Euro-Fords onboard, headed for McDonough, NY. My (ex) blue Mk III Cortina was up over the cab and the bronze Capri was tucked in, directly behind the cab.

The drivers were vauge on which route they were taking (probably weather dependent), so these "gems" might be seen anywhere.

Please let the fourm know if you see these headed down the road.

Olympia, WA, Feb 08. 1973 Capri 2600 V6. I've seen this Capri around Olympia for years, and it used to be pretty nice. When it was running I left my card on the windshield more than once, but never heard from the owner. Now it is in the parking lot of a local garage with a seized engine, two missing rear quarter windows (a Capri short coming) and a half inch of rain and melted snow on the carpet. One of the mechanics at the shop is hoping to be able to save it.

You guys on the west coast arent seeing many on the road and that's where most of the survivors are at.

In the past 25 years I have done the Edmonton, Alberta to New Brunswick run on holidays (3000 miles each way) probably 10 times and could count on my hand how many Euro-Fords I have seen even if I count the ones that were sitting. Most of the trips were done in my great Taurus in which I still have or the wife's Windstar, once in my old Thunderbird (P.O.S.)

I have done the trip 3 times (one way) in Cortinas-once when I moved to Alberta in 82 and twice when I moved back to N.B. with both Cortinas last July. It was a blast-sure turned alot of heads along the way! On the second trip we left Edmonton late on a Wednesday afternoon and we arrived in Sussex N.B. before midnight on Saturday night.

From the Annual Ford Picnic in Bellevue, WA, June 2006: The nicest Fiesta I’ve seen in years. Looks like the owner is well aquatinted with the BAT catalog. In addition to the Euro-grille, I believe those are Escort XR3 wheels. I left EFONA contact info on the car, but never heard from the owner. Maybe it will show up again this year…

Was that Capri MKI on the side of Mud Bay Road?
If so,I noticed it on the way out of Olympia.

Actually it is on Harrison, but it turns into Mud Bay, so I'm sure it was the same car.

The mystery is over reguarding the Fiesta photo above. It belongs to EFONA member Ray Morris of Seattle. He brought it down to the PNWIFM at Hillboro today. It is very nice.

These photos were sent to me by Ray McCaffrey Sr. (AKA raypmcc). Ray delivers motor homes for a living and so he has a lot of opportunity for car spotting.

This Cortina GT was found in a wreaking yard in Ogden, UT in May 08. Obviously the pervious owner used it to tow behind a motor home. Given the following the Mk I Cortina GT has, there is no excuse for a car like this to have been deposited in a wreaking yard (running or not). Too bad the last owner wasn’t an EFONA member. Ray asked the wrecking yard owner how much he wanted for the car and the guy laughed and said $900 labor to move all the double stacked cars in front of it!

The body looks very solid. It would almost be worth the $900.00 for a solid GT to the right person if you were close enough vs restoring a rusty one.

Just retiurned from a 550 mile round trip to Orcas Island (NW Washington) for a little family vacation. Spotted two Euro-Fords. A red Fiesta in front of an aparment building near McChord USAF base AND a Escort RS Cosworth on I-5 just below Mt. Vernon. That was exciting!

EFONA (NAEFR) once had a member in Mt Vernon, WA who oned THREE Escort RS Cosworths. He moved with no forwarding address, so I have lost touch with him -- but I suspect this was one of his cars (it had WA plates). His cars had all been federalized by a compamy in southern California that specilized in this back in the '90s. (Does anyone recall the name of that company?).

My friend Kevin and I were up in south Tacoma today (11/21) picking up some relined brake shoes for my Mk III. On the way back we swung by a British car garage – Brooklawns British Repair (I think). Anyway there were a bunch of British cars parked around including a Commer van and a Mk I Cortina GT that was in for service. The car was white with a bright green Lotus stripe and the same color painted on the dash. Anybody know this car?

Here is Western Washington I probably spot one or two Fiestas a year. This past week I spotted two between Olympia and Shelton (my commute). One of them appears to be an "S".

Shortly after I posted those pictures the owner contacted me for advice. She had been quoted $6,000 to rebuild the 2600 and was looking for an alternative. I suggested the possibility of putting in a 2800 or a 2900. Later she got back to me and told me that she had found a mechanic a few towns away that gave her a reasonable quote. I need to check in with her to find out how it is going.

The car has been in her family since new, so she was very attached to it.
