Cortina Gearbox into Anglia

Hi all
I am currently restoring an Anglia and am doing a 1600 crossflow convertion
I remember from my Anglia racing days, back in the UK, that we normally used a 2000E gearbox which fitted without to much problem. These are, obviosly fairly hard to find these days so does anyone know if a gearbox from a Cortina MK2 1600 E will fit.
The 2000E box had the shifter mounted at the back of the Tail Shaft Housing and the three selector rails ran inside the tail shaft. The 1600E box is a single rail selector which runs in it's own housing above the Tail Shaft Housing and i am wondering if this will fit without having to modify the Transmision Tunnel,
If anyone has any info i would greatly appreciate it.
Cheers all

The 2000E three-rail box from the Cortina MK2 GT will fit in the Anglia if you make a hole in the tunnel for the stick shift. It will just clear the handbrake. You will also need to purchase a special trans mount from Kevin Woods of Milton Racing ( check out 105speed website ) and shorten the drive shaft. I don't know about installing the single rail box in an Anglia but I believe you would need to do more tunnel mods to make it fit. Ask Kevin about that one.
The best solution would be to use the gear set from the 2000E box and install the set in an Anglia 1200 box.

Cheers,
Pete
