Slave cylinder

Anyone interested in knowing how to convert a 3/4" 105E girling slave cyl. bore to a 7/8" bore s/c as used on the Lotus Cortina, etc.

Start by obtaining a 7/8" cylinder from a Cortina MK2 s/c or a simular s/c installed on other EnFo/BMC models.

Cut 1/4" off the frontal piston area then cut 3/8" off the stem.
Chamfer each end.

Bore out the 105E s/c housing to 7/8". Locate a girling kit SP2204
or find a 64673020 seal. These seals were used on 7/8" bore wheel cyl.
brake/clutch/slave cyl. Better yet is to find a rear wheel cyl. kit with qty (4) 3020 seals. Generic covers for the s/c rod are easy to find.

I've converted a few of these now and it works fine.

Cheers,

Peter

Michael,

I will save a tech article for next newsletter.

The info I wrote about, the s/c , was important enough to get to the members much sooner than to wait 3 months before the next newsletter edition.
I've had calls regarding installing a diaphram clutch in an Anglia 105E but they couldn't locate a 7/8" dia. s/c to finish the job right.

See you there in Hillsboro, Ore.
