Hi from the UK

Post by 1960Zody »

Ok, First off I know this is a North American site and I'm in the UK, but what the hey, English Fords are English Fords no matter where you are.

My name is Steve Wallace, I live in London England and I've had a fair few Fords over the years, Starting with the first car I ever owned, an Anglia 307e van, 1200cc Pull starter and more rust than paintwork.

That was followed by a Mk3 Cortina 2.0GXL, Red body with a black vynil roof and that gorgeous coke bottle styling.

That was replaced by a Mk3 2 litre Capri in Diamond white, followed by a Mk4 Cortina in Black.

Two Mk2 Escorts followed that, One a silver 4 door Ghia, the other a sky blue station wagon.

Two Mk2 Granadas both 2.3 litre V6 models, one a blue L (Base model) one a green Ghia.

Finally on to my current one, an ex drag race Mk2 Zodiac, 289 V8 power, 8" Mustang axle at the rear and set up with a gasser stance.

Hopefully the modifications don't exclude me from the forum... :-)

I'm really fortunate with the Zodiac now as I have one of the UK's top Zodiac restorers 10 minutes drive from my house which makes sourcing parts a lot easier, and boy have I needed a few parts for this project.
because it was a racecar lots of the things you would normally expect on a road car weren't there, Turn Signals, horns, wipers, and most of the lights.
But she's coming along, I'm in the middle of a complete rewiring job at the moment, which is a steep learning curve... :-)

I've attached a picture so you can decide for yourselves... :-)

Will do James,
This weekend I need to...

Drop the sump to retrieve the oil pump drive that fell out when I was fitting the new MSD distributor.
Fit and wire up the MSD 6 control box
Make up the new plug leads
Figure out why I have no earth for the rear lights
Wire in the brake lights, (Does anyone know where the brake light switch on a Mk2 is?)
Try and get the rear doors to open..

And Finally...

Fire her up foir the first time in 18 months.

Just hope the weather stays good.

An additional thing, if anyone needs parts for EnFo's that are hard to find over there, feel free to contact me and I'll see if I can get the here for you.

Hi Steve,

Welcome from another UK member who may live pretty close to you! You say you are 10 minutes from a top Zodiac restorer, would that be Kevin at Zodiac Motor Services? I'm not far from the workshop and live two streets away from Kev.

Hi Steve,

Like Kevin, I am in Welling, living with my 59 Impala and 59 105E Anglia. Maybe we'll bump into each other at the workshop.

Regards

Paul
