Heater control question
Quick question on my heater control on my twin cam. I would have thought that I should be able to set the open and closed positions on this unit but it ‘springs’ back to the same place when I let go of the small tab in the slot? Consequently it is too stiff to operate on the heater inside the car. Should this be like this or should I be able to set it anywhere along that slot to adjust temperature? Thanks.

I wonder if that stiffness might indicate the valve is beyond it's best by date and maybe it will leak when put into service??? There are a few rubber bits in that valve that can perish over time.

My own car does not have any heater valve at all and it has never bothered me, I just don't turn it on when it is hot outside. Perhaps a simple elbow might work?

These are pics I found on the net.

Thanks gentlemen, a good alternative Brett, also a good lead Pete, the Lotus one I found was over $360 in Oz.... why is it people get carried away when you put Lotus in the search.... I figured it must’ve been used in other cars.ðŸ‘

Just a follow up here on the heater control. The Triumph one you gave me the lead on Pete turned up, will work good I think. The only issue is that it will be in the closed position when the indicator inside the car shows hot and vice versa. Not a big deal, I have got a local place to make me up a new inlay for the heater with the hot and cold switched.
