Ford Anglia, Hemmings Classic Car, July 2019
As the owner of several English Fords, I am always delighted to see an article in a US publication covering European Fords and Milton Stern’s piece on the 105E Anglia in the July HCC was no exception. However, I would like to clarify some of the historic background presented in the article. The Nash Metropolitan was not the first “captive import.” Instead that honor goes to Ford who began importing the Anglia, Prefect and Thames vans in 1948. This was the same year that Austin attempted a US beach head, making Ford and Austin the first importers of popularly priced cars in the US.
