MK 2 cortina starter

i dont know how to remove my starter from my cortina. the only way i figured i can do it was to raise the engine up a little of the bracket. before i go through all that trouble... does anyone know a easyier way?

Remove the solenoid first. That will give you enough clearance to remove the starter.

Is it an inertia or pre-engaged (with the solenoid attached) type? I'm not sure of the US specification. The inertia type should come straight off after removing the cable and three 9/16" AF bolts. The pre-engaged similarly but disconnect the battery first. It might be necessary to undo an engine mount and jack the engine up slightly.
