Mk 2 Cortina

Post by joeyramone30 »

I wanted to know what size tire my 69 U.S. spec Cortina came with? I have several sets of wheels and they all seem to have different sizes mounted. My wife has "cleaned" house and I can't find my owners manual. Thanks, I will post an intoduction this weekend after I take a few pics of my forlorn 'Tinas that have been patiently waiting for 20 years.

According to the '69 factory shop manual supplement,
these are the sizes:

Deluxe - 5.60X13 Cross-ply

6.00X13 Cross-ply

165X13 Radial-ply

GT - 6.00X13 Cross-ply

165X13 Radial ply

I hope this helps.

i just put new tires on my zephyr [it has 5 inch wide rims].original 165x13 radials were an 82% profile which are hard to find.i ordered 165x80x13 from my local big box tire depot and they look perfect.they are also about the cheapest tire you can buy.
good luck
the older i get,the faster i went...

Also,if the tires are over 10 years old -
- Don't use them! You could have a blow-out.

Thanks, I don't plan to drive it far like it is. I did find two 185/70R13 tires in the back of my shed and put them on the gold car pic you see in my introduction - they at least hold some air while I try to find a new set - I think I like the way they fill in the wheelwell and it might be easier to find a name brand than the smaller size.
